Local Events

Rooted Sonshine wants to be the hub that keeps our community connected by promoting real life events. Check back every month for who, what, and where fills your cup.

I have been working to make this calendar as hyper local to Liberty Lake as possible because we have so much to offer right here.

If you want us to feature an event or organization connecting people, let us know!

Inspiration

Hearing about things that have happened elsewhere can spark ideas about what you can implement locally.

Scott Brinton co-founded CedarRoot to help continue natural history and rural skills education. The robust team includes artistscertified trackers, global instructors, published photographers, AND so many more!

At CedarRoot, we believe that we should first engage intimately with our local ecosystems. Then, as we travel through time and other landscapes, we have the tools of an inquiring mind, the expansion of our senses, wilderness skills and the confidence to participate with nature on an increasingly intimate level.

CedarRoot supports immersion throughout the school year with Saplings, Nature Studies, and everything in between.

Their newsletter highlighted that this year they:

  • Took 60 students from Salish Elementary school into the forest every month all year long to complement their unit on nature studies and wilderness skills
  • Enriched 25 students from the Port Townsend School Districts Ocean program on a weekly spring program focusing on awareness activities, team building and naturalist skills
  • Brought 13 Ocean High School students on a 3 day expedition to the Pacific Ocean.  Along the way students were introduced to wildlife tracking, working with field biologist from the Olympic Cougar project, medicinal and edible plants and low impact camping skills
In the summer, CedarRoot offer both children and adult programs.
