Nurturing the Good Stuff . . . Liberty Lake's FIRST LEGO League

Say 'Hello' to . . .

Liberty Lake's FIRST® LEGO® League  (LL FLL)  - a robotics club that uses legos to build robots!

For the 25-26 school year, Liberty Lake (LLE) & Liberty Creek (LCE) elementary schools will each have four brand new FIRST® LEGO® League teams!

A true community effort, LL FLL was initiated by LCE and LLE principals Alisha Alsaker and Jen Tesky and parent Jacey Harder who is now the official LL FLL Coordinator.

With LEGO bricks, strong mentor support, and limitless imagination, students are able to exercise their creativity and curiosity while also learning skills that will help them build their futures and their character.

Liberty Lake's FIRST® LEGO® League isn’t just about building robots; it’s about building confidence, teamwork, and real-world problem-solving skills.

Over 96% of FIRST students persevere despite challenges or barriers as a result of program participation.

Liberty Lake’s FIRST® LEGO® League is actively seeking financial support to cover the full $46,000 cost of establishing all 8 teams so that there is no financial barrier for any child. Programs with participation fees often inadvertently exclude those that might have the highest potential for innovation or the greatest need for community.

Bringing the mission to life . . .

Each year, teams dive into a new challenge that mirrors real-life scientific and engineering issues. They research, design, and build, pushing the boundaries of their own knowledge and creativity. But they don’t do it alone.

Parents, coaches, the school and really the whole community rally behind these students, guiding them through the highs and lows of problem-solving. The magic happens in those moments of perseverance—when a robot doesn’t move as planned, when code needs debugging, or when ideas don’t fit together quite right. These kids learn that failure isn’t the end of the road; it’s just another step toward success.

And when competition day arrives, the energy is electric, the camaraderie undeniable. Whether they win or lose, every participant walks away with something invaluable: resilience, critical thinking skills, and a deep appreciation for teamwork.

The difference it makes . . .

What starts with a simple stack of bricks and a spark of curiosity grows into something much greater. The lessons learned in FLL extend far beyond the competition floor.

For some, it’s the moment they realize they love coding. For others, it’s discovering a passion for design or engineering. Many walk away with a newfound confidence in their ability to tackle challenges head-on. And perhaps most importantly, every participant carries with them the knowledge that innovation thrives in collaboration.

Liberty Lake’s FIRST LEGO League is more than just an extracurricular activity—it’s a launchpad for future scientists, engineers, and problem-solvers. And with every season, every challenge, and every team, our community is growing stronger, one brilliant young mind at a time.
