Slowing Down to Remember What Matters Most
There’s a quiet invitation that arrives with summer—the kind that tugs gently and whispers.
At Rooted Sonshine, we’re listening.
This summer, we’ll be pressing pause—taking an intentional 8-week hiatus to root ourselves in the sacred rhythm of South Dakota farm life.
This is a special privilege - all three of my young boys making core memories with their grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, dogs, cats, bunnies, mosquitos, swimming pools, tornado warnings, heavy equipment, hard work, dirt, and sweat . . . in the same place where I spent my childhood summers . . . on the same land where my parents and grandparents did the same.
We’ll trade screens for chores with Gramma and Grampa, planning meetings for checking cows, and digital hustle for the holy hush of nature’s pace. Our hope? To remember what living is suppose to feel like. To let our bodies, minds, and hearts reset. To be present with the people we love the most.
While we rest, we’re also celebrating the physical, emotional, and mental work that Cycling on Purpose is doing over the same 8 weeks. Shining a light on the youth mental health crisis, empowering advocates through education, and exercising resilience with a 2800 miles bike ride from Washington to Indiana.
So for now, we’ll be quiet over here. But it’s a good kind of quiet—the kind that comes when you’re living.
See you at summer’s end, with dirt under our nails and new stories in our bones.
With gratitude and grace,
— Kyla & boys 🌻
